Product Description

Sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) is a hexamer of composition (NaPO3)6. Sodium hexametaphosphate of commerce is typically a mixture of polymeric metaphosphates, of which the hexamer is one, and is usually the compound referred to by this name. It is more correctly termed sodium polymetaphosphate. It is prepared by melting monosodium orthophosphate, followed by rapid cooling. SHMP hydrolyzes in aqueous solution, particularly under acidic conditions, to sodium trimetaphosphate and sodium orthophosphate.

Properties

White powder; Density 2.**4(*0); soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvent; It has got strong hygroscopicity and can absorb humidity from the air to become into pasty form; It may form soluble chelates with ions of Ca, Ba, Mg, Cu, Fe ect.

Application

Used in industries of oil field, paper production, textile, dyeing, petroleum, chemistry, metallurgy and construction materials etc. as water softener, flotation selecting agent, disperser and high temperature adhesive: In food industry it used as an additive, nourishing agent, quality improver, PH regulator, metal ions chelating agent, adhesive and leavening agent etc
